Yes or no?

How to use the yes or no

  1. Think of a yes-or-no question (or type it in the box).
  2. Tap Ask or press the space bar.
  3. Want a third option? Turn on Include "maybe".

Why letting chance decide helps

When two options are genuinely close, spending more time deciding rarely leads to a better choice. A random answer breaks the deadlock. Many people find that the moment the answer appears, they feel relief or disappointment, which shows them what they really wanted all along.

Is it 50/50?

Yes. With "maybe" off, yes and no each have exactly a 50% chance; with "maybe" on, each of the three answers has a one-in-three chance. flipj uses your browser's built-in cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source browsers use for encryption keys. We also avoid "modulo bias", a subtle flaw where some results come up slightly more often than others. Every result is generated on your device, so nothing you enter is sent to us.

Questions

Is the yes or no answer random?

Yes, it's generated by your browser's cryptographic random number generator, with an equal chance for each answer.

Should I trust it for big decisions?

Use it to break ties between options you'd be happy with. For big decisions, notice how you feel about the answer; that's the useful part.
